Installation of an Unorthodox Racing power pulley

Installation of an Unorthodox Racing power pulley When installing an Unorthodox Racing under drive power pulley on my 1994 del Sol Si, I cam across a few problems. Here is a list of those problems and the corrective steps that I took in order to solve
them.

The first problem encountered was probably the most overwhelming. Removal of the stock pulley when without a snag, but during the installation of the Unorthodox Racing pulley I noticed that the washer on the stock crank bolt was too large to fit down inside of the bore. Here's what I did to solve this:

     - First I went to the Honda dealership to purchase a new crank bolt. It was part number HON-DS187.   Then took the bolt to a machine shop in town and had them grind down the washer so that it would fit into the pulley. It took them about 15 minutes and they were done. Now with the newly machined crank bolt I was ready to install.

Next problem was the racing pulley was smaller in diameter then the OEM (original equipment) pulley. This meant that I had to find smaller drive belts. I had no real way of measuring exactly how much smaller the racing pulley was, so this caused a
problem. Here's what I did:

     - With the pulley installed on the car, I took a piece of string or yarn and placed it around the pulley and the alternator. I marked the length and removed the string, measured, and repeated for the A/C compressor and the power steering pump. I then subtracted .5" from each measurement for tension, and when to my local auto part store. These are the part numbers of the belts I got; Alternator, KO40305; A/C compressor, KO40285; power steering, KO40292. I figured out that the last three digits on the part numbers were the sizes of the belts, for example; KO40305 was a 30.5" belt.

Also after searching the Internet I found that Unorthodox Racing had a web page on which they list the belt sizes, the web address is www.unorthodoxracing.com

With these problems solved the installation was a success.
